The Basics with instructor and artist Tracy Casagrande Clancy
Join us for a hands-on, one-day encaustic painting workshop designed for beginners and creatives eager to explore this ancient art form using molten beeswax and pigments.
In this Workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with encaustic materials, including proper tools, safety techniques, fusing methods, and layering. Guided by an certified encaustic instructor, you’ll create your own encaustic pieces using basic techniques such as incising, embedding, and texture-building. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to experiment and have fun!
All materials and equipment are provided, and you’ll leave with at least one finished piece and the knowledge to continue working independently. This workshop is perfect for artists, crafters, or anyone looking to discover a new and expressive medium in a supportive, small-group environment. Come learn how to incorporate this medium into your current art practices, including oil painting, watercolors, mixed media and more!

Tracy Casagrande Clancy is a nationally and internationally recognized American artist. Known for her mixed media, encaustic and sculptural work, Tracy incorporates photography, painting and collage in her encaustic and cold wax pieces in her explorations of the theme of interconnectedness.
With undergraduate and graduate degrees in Fine Art, Counseling, and Social Work, Tracy’s past career as a grief therapist in medical and crisis intervention settings deeply informs her artistic voice. Clancy’s work shows a consistent use of iconography and references to shelter, anatomy, and the human figure in all its incarnations.
